Golding “Vintage and Decorative RingSpindles” are one-of-a-kind spindles made with rings other than the standard bronze alloy ring that surrounds the whorl, and/or with decorative whorl insets. Most of the ring collection is of vintage stock, made from a variety of unique and interesting materials:

• etched sterling silver
• etched brass
• etched copper
• mother of pearl
• turquoise
• cloisonne
• horn
• bone
• abalone
• malachite

With the weight still on the outer circumference in the form of a ring, these spindles spin as well as the ones made with the bronze alloy ring, and with such an extensive collection of rings and decorative insets the artistic possibilities are endless.

The whorls are made from black walnut, cherry, linden, ebony, butternut, or purpleheart. Many of the wooden whorls have designs that are finely scrolled and handcarved by either Tom or Seth, or are handpainted by artist Jan Elliott. Whorls may have decorative insets of turquoise, sterling silver, handpainted Russian lacquer, Damascene, Italian micro-mosaic, and many other materials to choose from.

While most of the "Vintage and Decorative Spindles are one-of-a-kind, we may have materials available to make a spindle that's similar to one that's been sold.
